16 students from Merced, Turlock and Los Banos spent their last Friday of Christmas break in the soup plant as a 1 day mission trip. Gleanings for the Hungry is a YWAM base facility helping the bigger missions across the world. On this day we helped unpackage potatoes. A LOT of them!! Over 4 pallets of donated pre-packaged powdered potatoes stacked about 3-4 ft tall. It was just a small part of the dry soup mix of potatoes, rice, beans and pasta, Gleanings packages up and sends out all over the world.
It was a great day not only of service but an example of doing everything with joy unto the Lord. up at 4am and to work by 8am, our day ended around 2:30pm. A long day on our feet and potato dust on our faces but even with that students commented that they can't wait to come back and do it again.
What an amazing place to serve close to home and feel like you've left. We met students from Holland, China, Germany and Canada.
